I’m sure when I speak, I don’t speak alone when I say — what’s taking at&t and Apple so long to bring the iPhone to business customers? Their initial and only public response was that they wanted to meet the needs of the retail market first. Give me a break!

The retail market has an ample supply of iphones and the price reduction yesterday from $599 to $399 gives CLEAR indication that supplies of the device are not tight. If at&t/Apple was serious about bringing the phone to the business market, then they would have introduced it prior to cutting price by 33%.

In my situation, being a business customer with at&t, I get a discount on device purchases and monthly service. I can forego the discount on the device (that’s a one time hit), but I don’t want to make any commitment unless a get a to keep my discount on service (as this can quickly surpass cost of phone).  At this point, it seems like wishful thinking if you believe the iphone is coming to business customers anytime soon.

Steve/at&t, PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG!!

There have been numerous reports coming out claiming iTunes 7.2 is buggy in regards to the DRM free music and updating previously bought tracks. Well people, relax..bugs will get fixed….Microsoft trains us well to believe bugs are cool. Apple is pretty good about fixing theirs, so I wouldn’t get too excited and write home about this. Secondly there are also people crying foul about their name attached to the DRM free music they buy. C’mon people, if you buy a car, your name is on the title, if you buy a house, your name is on the deed….If your main intent is not on proliferating iTunes tracks, then why should you even care about this… beats me!

Apple did it again! They are one of the very few companies out there that cares about the consumer (excluding hardware pricing of course). This was apparent when they stood up to the record companies who wanted to jack up the price of online songs from 0.99c per download.

Anyway, Apple is now selling DRM-free music (through an agreement with EMI) calling it iTunes Plus.  This DRM-free music is only applicable to EMI tracks purchased or previously purchased. The cost of these new tracks is $1.29 or you can pay 0.30c to make your existing EMI track library DRM-free.

I am a strong believer in consumer rights of transferring media purchased to different devices (without any catches).  Paying 0.30c extra to buy rights that you should otherwise have is a good start.  It definitely sets precedence. I would pay extra for that kind of freedom to move tracks from iTunes to any media player of choice. Plus Apple sweetened the deal by making these tracks 256kps…  Go Apple!
